PCCI Conducts Project Management Course

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s training arm, Philippine Chamber Development Institute (PhilCDI), in partnership with the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarships (AOTS) and Engineering Advancement Association of Japan (ENAA) successfully concluded the Project Management Training Course (Basic-Intermediate) held last February 28, March 1, 2012 at the PCCI BA Securities Hall in Taguig City.

The seminar, which enabled participants to learn the basic knowledge necessary for project management in the field of engineering in a structured and time sequential format, was attended by 29 participants from member companies of PCCI and other industry associations.

Mr. Tadashi Nomura, the main lecturer for the training course, shared his knowledge and in the various aspects or steps in project management gained from his more than 20 years experience in project management. He was joined by two local lectures who shared their experiences in Project Management.

Mr. Renato G. Simbulan, Chairman of Simbulan Group of Companies, a company specializing in project management, interior fit-out works and manufacturing of furniture, furnishings and builders wood works, discussed the practical application of project management. He discussed the issues faced by companies as they grow and expand their operations and related it to his company’s experiences.

Dr. Eduardo C. Arrojado, President of Eduardo C. Arrojado and Associates, a construction management and structural engineering company focused his discussion on issue management. Issue management is a process by which issues that are currently affecting the ability of the project to produce the required deliverables are formally managed. Examples given were on the timescale issue of Robinsons Galleria and resources issue of Robinsons Dumaguete.

The training program was also graced by Mr. Shinichi Konishi, General Manager for Academe-Industry of ENAA, Mr. Makoto Kuribayashi, Manager of Planning and Development, ENAA, Mr. Mikio Ujie from the Overseas Affairs Coordination Group of AOTS Japan and Mr. Lorentti T. Velasco, President of PHILCULTAROS.
